Treatment Landscape in Kentucky
Kentucky has been severely impacted by the opioid epidemic, particularly in Appalachian Eastern Kentucky. The state has responded with significant expansion of treatment capacity, MAT access, and harm reduction programs. The Kentucky Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities (DBHDID) oversees the system. Kentucky HEALTH (Medicaid) covers comprehensive substance use disorder treatment. Louisville and Lexington have major treatment hubs.
